As our quinoa is from a single source it means we can pretty much guarantee the quality and consistency of the crop each year, which helps keep the cooking instructions the same each time. There are some people who swear by the 3:1 ratio of water to quinoa, or the 2:1 but it varies so much on how you like your quinoa, the utensils you use, the type of heat, how often you stir etc. Which all add unnecessary stress. So, to make it really easy for you we’ve outlined the most simple steps below to help you cook perfect quinoa.
Try these fool-proof instructions for cooking the perfect quinoa.
- Boil some salted water (we often pop a veggie stock cube in to give the quinoa some added flavour)
- No need to rinse the quinoa, just pop into the pan. Portion size varies from 50g to 100g, depending on how hungry you are or what you are serving it with. If it’s for the base of a salad or as a side to a curry, we’d suggest 60-80g of quinoa is enough.
- Lower heat, cover with a lid and simmer for 12 mins.
- Drain quinoa and use a fork to fluff up before serving.
